The Role We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our growing accountancy practice in Dudley and become an integral part of our busy tax team.
Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is essential.
We are specifically looking for someone who understands the practice environment, is confident managing clients and teams, and can provide technical advice and support to managers and partners across the firm.
The role will involve managing a portfolio of approximately 200 clients, overseeing compliance, supporting and developing the tax team, and providing corporate and mixed tax advisory support, particularly on the corporate side.
You will report to the Tax Partner and work closely with managers, supervisors and junior members of the team to ensure client work is completed accurately, efficiently and within deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 200 clients.
- Prepare and review tax returns, computations and advisory work.
- Provide corporate tax and mixed tax advice to clients, managers and partners.
- Act as a technical point of contact for corporate tax queries across the firm.
- Support partners and managers with client compliance and reporting.
- Manage, train and develop junior members of the tax team.
- Support the allocation of work across the department and monitor progress against deadlines.
- Liaise directly with clients, managing relationships and chasing outstanding information.
- Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation, including MTD.
- Support new business development and networking activities.
- Identify opportunities for additional advisory work.
- Assist with general practice administration and the continued growth of the tax department.
About You Practice experience is essential β candidates with solely in-house or industry experience will not be suitable.
Ideally, you will have
- Previous experience as a Tax Manager, Senior Tax Manager or similar within an accountancy practice.
- Strong corporate tax knowledge and advisory experience.
- Good knowledge across mixed taxation, alongside a strong personal tax background.
- Experience managing a client portfolio and leading, mentoring or training a team.
- Strong technical knowledge and the confidence to deal with complex tax queries.
- Excellent client handling and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- The ability to process numerical data accurately and efficiently.
- A flexible, positive approach with strong interpersonal skills.
- CTA qualification preferred, although QBE candidates with strong relevant experience will be considered. What We Offer
