We're recruiting for a well-established manufacturing business looking to strengthen its technical team with a Senior Metallurgist - but we're also very open to hearing from an ambitious Metallurgy/Materials graduate who has the right technical foundation, drive and commitment to develop into the role.
For an experienced Metallurgist, this is an opportunity to take real ownership of metallurgical quality, melting operations, process improvement and technical performance.
For a graduate or someone earlier in their career, it offers the chance to learn from an experienced team, gain significant hands-on manufacturing exposure and develop towards a senior technical position.
The role is approximately 60% technical/office based and 40% shopfloor, so would particularly suit someone who enjoys being close to production rather than purely desk based.
Key areas will include:
- Metallurgical process control across melting and pouring
- Laboratory, quality and production support
- Metallurgical investigations and root cause analysis
- Scrap reduction and continuous improvement
- Technical reporting and process development
- Supporting ISO 9001 / IATF quality standards
- Working closely with production teams to improve materials, processes and performance
We'd like to hear from:
- Experienced Metallurgists from iron, steel, foundry, castings or related heavy manufacturing backgrounds
- OR graduates with a Degree/HNC/HND in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Metals Technology or a closely related discipline, who can demonstrate genuine ambition to build a long-term career within the industry
For the graduate route, extensive industry experience isn't essential. Attitude, technical aptitude, willingness to learn and the drive to develop will be equally important.
What's on offer?
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Days-based role with flexibility around working hours
- Excellent long-term stability and career development
- Genuine technical ownership and influence
- Opportunity to develop within an established and supportive manufacturing environment
Whether you're an experienced Metallurgist ready for greater responsibility, or a talented graduate looking for the right business in which to build your career, we'd be very interested to hear from you.
