The Role
As a Bandsaw Operator, you will be responsible for cutting steel to precise specifications while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate bandsaw machinery to cut steel materials accurately
- Read and interpret job sheets, measurements, and technical specifications
- Use a variety of hand tools safely and effectively
- Operate an overhead crane to move steel materials (training refresh available if required)
- Carry out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations
- Maintain a clean and organised work area
Requirements
- Proven experience working in the steel industry
- Previous experience operating a bandsaw
- Competent in the use of hand tools
- Experience operating an overhead crane
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good understanding of workplace health & safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Valid overhead crane licence/certification
- Forklift licence (advantageous but not essential)
