Are you an experienced Yard Operative with a background in the steel industry? Do you enjoy a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same? Due to an internal promotion, we are recruiting for a Steel Yard & FLT Operative to join a well-established and growing steel business.

Location: Dudley

Pay: £12.75 per hour

Hours: Contracted to 40 hours per week

  • Typical working hours are 6:00am – 4:30pm due to overtime requirements
  • Overtime paid at time and a half
  • Occasional Saturday work available
  • Available on either a permanent or temp-to-perm basis

The Role

This is a varied, hands-on position working within a busy steel yard environment. The successful candidate will be involved in a range of duties and will play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the operation.

Duties will include:

  • Loading and unloading steel deliveries
  • Operating a Forklift Truck
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised yard
  • Breaking down and clearing pallets
  • Material handling and stock movement
  • General yard and housekeeping duties
  • This role offers plenty of variety. Some days will be fast-paced and demanding, while others will be quieter, so a flexible and proactive approach is essential.

The Candidate

  • Previous experience working within a steel environment is essential
  • FLT experience is preferred
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to get involved in all aspects of the role
  • Reliable and hardworking
  • Team player with a flexible approach
  • Keen to learn new skills and support other areas of the business when required
