We are seeking an experienced IT professional with strong hands‑on network infrastructure and cyber security expertise for a 6‑month fixed‑term appointment to cover a secondment.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver cyber security improvements and technical controls across the organisation
- Oversee firewalls, endpoint protection, threat detection platforms (e.g. Darktrace), and related tooling
- Manage and secure core network infrastructure (Cisco‑based) and associated services
- Identify, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities and security risks
- Monitor and respond to security incidents and events
- Drive progress towards Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation
- Oversee key security tooling (e.g. firewalls, SIEM, Darktrace) and third‑party suppliers
- Lead infrastructure and security projects and support continuous improvement
- On call support may be required.
- Cisco CCNP (essential) with strong hands‑on network experience
- Experience with penetration testing outputs and vulnerability assessments, and translating findings into actionable remediation plans
- Proven technical experience across cyber security and infrastructure environments
- Experience with security monitoring, threat detection, and incident response
- Strong understanding of network security principles (firewalls, VPNs, segmentation)
- Experience identifying and remediating vulnerabilities
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and support technical teams
- Ethical hacking (or similar) training desirable
- Membership in the Civil Service Pension Scheme, with generous employer pension contribution
