Trinity House Group is recruiting for a Financial Controller opportunity for a leading international business based in North Birmingham. Reporting into senior finance leadership, this role will combine strong financial control responsibilities with a significant focus on commercial finance, planning, and operational performance. This is a highly visible position, partnering closely with operational and commercial stakeholders to drive business performance, support strategic decision-making, and ensure robust financial governance across the division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for a large operational business unit.
  • Providing detailed commercial analysis and financial insight to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Partnering with senior operational leaders to drive profitability, cost optimisation, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Overseeing monthly management reporting, ensuring accurate and timely financial information is delivered to key stakeholders.
  • Monitoring business performance against plan, identifying risks and opportunities, and driving corrective actions where required.
  • Supporting investment appraisal activity, capital expenditure reviews, and wider commercial projects.
  • Ensuring strong financial controls, compliance, and governance frameworks are maintained across the business.
  • Driving continuous improvement across financial processes, reporting capability, and operational efficiency.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing finance team within a collaborative environment.

Candidate Profile:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with operational and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to turn financial data into actionable insight.
  • A commercially minded finance professional with a proactive and hands-on approach.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, governance, and reporting processes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at senior leadership level.
