We are working with an established and growing organisation operating within the environmental and infrastructure sector seeking a Senior Management Accountant to join its finance team. This is a broad and commercially focused role, offering ownership of multiple entities while working closely with operational stakeholders across the business. Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in delivering accurate management information, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and driving continuous improvement across finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the monthly management accounts process for a portfolio of entities.
- Maintain and review trial balances, ensuring financial accuracy and integrity.
- Prepare and post journals, accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments.
- Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
- Produce balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Deliver monthly, half-year and year-end financial reporting.
- Analyse financial performance and provide insightful commentary on variances against budget and forecast.
- Support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Partner with operational and regional management teams to provide financial insight and support decision-making.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and monitor capital expenditure.
- Support external audit processes and year-end statutory requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial performance, controls and reporting processes.
- Provide leadership, coaching and development support to a Management Accountant.
About You
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or possess equivalent experience, with a strong grounding in management accounting and financial reporting.

- Proven experience producing management accounts within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of month-end processes, reconciliations and financial controls.
- Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Ability to analyse financial data and translate findings into meaningful business insight.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge and influence.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong systems aptitude.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior finance team members would be advantageous.
