Treasury Assistant
If you're the kind of person who can't leave a reconciliation unbalanced without knowing why, this one's worth a proper look. You'll be joining a finance team where the banking function is well established but the wider process is still being built out, so there's real scope to shape how things work rather than just follow a script. It's a 12 month fixed term contract covering a period of maternity leave.
The right person here has done meaningful reconciliation work before and actually enjoys the investigation side of it, not just the ticking-off. You'll need to be comfortable owning a queue of queries and chasing external contacts for answers without needing to be told twice. Someone who's naturally curious about "why doesn't this balance" rather than frustrated by it will do well.
What You Will Be Doing
- Running regular bank reconciliations across multiple accounts, digging into any discrepancies until you know exactly why they happened
- Investigating and resolving reconciliation differences at the root cause, not just correcting the number and moving on
- Stepping in to cover the Team Leader when needed, including managing incoming queries
- Supporting the month-end close, picking up and resolving reconciliation queries as they land
- Managing a portfolio of supplier income owed to the business, chasing outstanding amounts in line with agreed terms
- Working with the Accounts Payable team to resolve debit note queries tied to supplier reconciliations
- Supporting new supplier onboarding from a reconciliation and process standpoint
- Raising invoices for one-off charges, promotional activity and portal fees
- Reconciling deposit accounts and investigating any variances that come up
- Reviewing existing ways of working and helping build better processes as the role evolves
What We Need From You
- Solid finance experience with real exposure to complex reconciliations, not just basic bookkeeping
- Comfortable and confident in Excel, working with financial data day to day
- A naturally methodical approach, with genuine attention to detail
- Someone who enjoys the detective work of finding out why something's wrong, not just fixing it
- Confident picking things up and running with them without waiting to be asked
- Happy communicating with people both inside and outside the business, sometimes chasing for answers
- Available at short notice, given this is a maternity cover start
- Open to a role that's still evolving, where you'll help define the process rather than inherit a finished one
What's in it for you
- Hybrid working, 3 days in the office and 2 from home
- Genuine input into shaping a developing part of the finance function
- Exposure to a broad mix of reconciliation and process improvement work
- A finance team that will support you getting stuck into a varied role
- The chance to build something rather than just maintain it
If this sounds like the kind of role where you'd actually enjoy getting your hands dirty in the detail, get in touch or apply now.
