About the role
We are looking for an experienced Field Adjuster to join our growing team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled claims professional with experience in buildings and contents insurance claims to play a key role in delivering fair, accurate, and customer-focused outcomes.
Working across a varied portfolio of claims, you will assess property damage, validate contractor estimates, review surveyor reports, and provide technical guidance on policy coverage.
You will also conduct site visits, manage claims within delegated authority limits, and work closely with contractors, suppliers, and policyholders to ensure claims are progressed efficiently and in line with regulatory and company standards.
This role would suit someone with a strong understanding of building pathology, reinstatement works, and insurance policy interpretation who enjoys balancing technical expertise with excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess buildings and contents insurance claims for validity and settlement value.
- Conduct site inspections and attend policyholder properties when required.
- Review surveyor reports, contractor estimates, and customer invoices using Xactware and other relevant systems.
- Validate contents loss lists, applying depreciation, wear and tear, and policy terms.
- Assess subsidence claims and review expert reports to determine appropriate remediation.
- Produce accurate reports and scopes of work within delegated authority limits.
- Liaise with contractors, surveyors, and the Trinity Supplier Network to progress claims efficiently.
- Provide clear explanations to policyholders regarding claim decisions, settlements, and policy limitations.
- Support the handling of Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) complaints through technical reporting.
- Identify potential fraud indicators and elevate concerns where appropriate.
- Audit surveyor and contractor performance to ensure quality and minimise claim leakage.
- Ensure all claims are handled in line with FCA requirements, internal governance, and agreed service levels.
- Key Requirements
- Proven experience in property claims handling or loss adjusting. (3+ years ideally)
- CILA or CII qualification is a mandatory requirement for this position.
Applicants must be qualified through either the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA) or the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
- Strong technical knowledge of building pathology, repair methodologies, and reinstatement processes.
- Experience handling both buildings and contents insurance claims.
- Ability to interpret and apply insurance policy wordings and make evidence-based decisions.
- Experience using digital claims systems and estimating tools, such as Xactware.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical matters clearly.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage a field-based workload, including site visits and customer meetings.
- Confidence dealing with challenging or sensitive customer situations.
