Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive project plans, defining objectives, budgets, schedules, resource allocations, and performance metrics.
- Own the technical scope of BESS projects, including component specification, design validation, and integration planning.
- Drive and oversee technical reviews of supplier documentation to ensure compliance with project and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate and lead factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for all major components including battery racks, PCS, PPC, and SCADA systems.
- Act as the primary technical liaison between internal teams, clients, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Supervise the design process to ensure alignment with contractual obligations and technical specifications.
- Manage commissioning activities and ensure seamless integration of BESS components into the broader energy system.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive project documentation for client handover, including version-controlled technical records.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and support cross-functional collaboration across engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within renewable energy sectors (PV, Wind, Microgrid, or BESS).
- In-depth technical knowledge of BESS components, PCS, and substation systems.
- Proven experience with on-site BESS integration, electrical system design, protection & control, and SAT procedures.
- Strong understanding of communication protocols such as RS485, CANBUS, Modbus TCP/RTU.
- Familiarity with international codes, standards, and regulations (UK, EU; Australia and USA are a plus).
- Knowledge of grid services and BESS applications such as FFR, DC, and other ancillary services.
- Willingness to travel across Europe and internationally up to 20–30% of the time.
