The Workshop, Warehouse & Spare Parts Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of workshop operations, warehouse logistics, spare parts inventory, and component refurbishment for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Power Conversion Systems (PCS). This role supports aftersales operations by ensuring parts availability, efficient logistics, safe storage, and technical repair capability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Workshop Operations Management
- Oversee daily workshop operations including repair, refurbishment, and testing of components.
- Maintain diagnostic equipment, tools, and calibration schedules.
- Ensure technical procedures for safe handling of battery modules, PCS components, and other equipment.
- Collaborate with Engineering on repair/testing procedures.
- Ensure full documentation of workshop activities.
- Warehouse & Logistics Management
- Manage receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch operations.
- Ensure safe warehouse storage of electrical and hazardous materials.
- Organise warehouse layout for efficiency and compliance.
- Coordinate inbound/outbound shipments with logistics partners.
- Maintain accurate stock records and audits.
- Spare Parts Inventory Management
- Own and assist with the spare parts strategy for BESS and PCS systems.
- Forecast stock needs based on fleet size, failure trends, and maintenance plans.
- Establish minimum stock levels and reorder points with internal stakeholders.
- Work with Procurement to source components.
- Maintain BOMs and parts availability dashboards.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and hazardous material handling regulations.
- Conduct warehouse and workshop safety audits.
- Maintain proper storage procedures for batteries and electronics.
- Ensure staff certification and safety training is up to date.
- Support for Service Operations
- Provide rapid spare parts dispatch for urgent service cases.
- Support field service and commissioning teams with component availability.
- Maintain SLAs for spare parts delivery.
- Assist RCA investigations with parts history and failure reporting.
- Fleet Reliability & Cost Optimisation
- Track failure rates and recommend quality or design improvements.
- Analyse repair vs. replace decisions for all warranty and non-warranty cases.
- Reduce inventory costs through optimisation and forecasting accuracy.
- Team Leadership & Coordination
- Manage workshop and warehouse teams, including technician and logistics staff.
- Provide training, performance evaluation, and workforce planning.
- Develop SOPs for inventory, workshop, and logistics processes.
- Foster a safety-focused culture.
- Systems, Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate logs of stock levels, repairs, returns, and scrap.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on:
- Inventory turnover
- Workshop throughput
- Repair success rates
- Budget performance
- Support ERP/WMS/CMMS system improvements.
Requirements
- Required Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years in warehouse, spare parts, workshop, or supply chain management.
- Experience handling electrical/industrial/hazardous components preferred.
- Experience with international logistics and customs.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and operations management skills.
- Excellent organisational and planning capability.
- Knowledge of forecasting, inventory control, and spare parts optimisation.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and service manuals.
- Strong safety awareness, including hazardous materials handling.
- Preferred Experience:
- Experience in energy storage, or renewables.
- Understanding of RCA and collaboration with Engineering/Service teams.
- Experience with international logistics and customs.
- Knowledge of BESS, PCS, or power electronics beneficial.
