Overview
We are looking for a Property Engineer - Whole Vehicle Design and Functional Validation to play a key role in delivering new vehicle projects by managing the development, build, delivery and ongoing updates of Design Check and Static Validation (DCSV) properties, models, and rigs. This role sits at the heart of Whole Vehicle Engineering, supporting both Product and Manufacturing release through robust physical and static validation capability. You will lead the end-to-end delivery of properties and parts, working with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure solutions land on time, to quality, and within budget. Responsibilities
- Deliver properties, models and rigs to time / quality / cost
- Manage the design, construction, delivery and update of DCSV properties and models (internally and through external suppliers)
- Work closely with stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet defined requirements and build intent
- Maintain clear delivery reporting with the ability to demonstrate status using KPIs
- Balance day-to-day workload while responding effectively to short and long-term requests
- Manage outsourced technical work within the property/model space, including supplier performance
- Own budget planning and tracking in support of KPI objectives
- Lead the engineering side of sourcing, including RFQ input and technical levelling
- Manage property/model BOM and part sourcing in conjunction with Design Check Engineers and part owners
- Drive capability through hardware and process development
- Provide technical direction for property design, functionality and validation scope
- Propose and implement process improvements to strengthen department capability
- Lead technical alignment across departments and support part/feature owners and Design Check Engineers
- Provide technical input to future concepts and roadmap thinking
- Identify and initiate continuous improvement opportunities in property functionality
- Keep informed on industry innovations and relevant Group technical roadmap deployment
- Communicate effectively across the business and VW Group
- Deliver factual, transparent communication at all levels across cross-functional teams
- Represent the function in technical meetings and working groups
- Collate and present data to consult, influence, and lead cross-functional decision-making
- Proactively identify, manage and escalate issues/risks to management
- Build productive relationships with internal partners, VW Group counterparts and suppliers
- Present recommendations with the ability to translate technical detail into clear direction
What We Are Looking For
Essential Experience / Skills
- Strong engineering background supporting vehicle validation / design check / static validation activities
- Experience managing properties, rigs, models, or prototype hardware through build and delivery
- Proven ability to deliver to time, cost and quality, with KPI reporting discipline
- Supplier and stakeholder management experience (internal and external)
- Understanding of BOM management, part sourcing, and engineering involvement in procurement (RFQ/technical evaluation)
- Confident communicator with strong meeting, presentation and issue escalation skills
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to drive process and method enhancements
Desirable
- Experience working in complex, cross-functional engineering organisations (OEM / premium automotive ideal)
- Exposure to Group or multi-organisation engineering collaboration environments
- Familiarity with manufacturing release support and quality interfaces
