Our client, a leading provider in the aerospace sector, is currently seeking a skilled Grinder to join their team on a permanent basis. This role involves performing high-precision grinding operations on aircraft components using cylindrical and surface grinding machines, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and company procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all types of grinding machines to fine limits
  • Work unsupervised or with minimal supervision
  • Read and understand technical drawings
  • Work with cylindrical and surface grinding machines
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of company environmental procedures
  • Maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book
  • Train personnel within a specified area, subject to qualifications and experience
  • Comply with safety and environmental regulations and company procedures

Job Requirements

  • Experience in machining, particularly with internal and external grinding machines
  • Preferred background in aerospace, although not essential
  • Knowledge of CNC grinding is advantageous

Education And Qualifications

  • Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

  • Initiative and strong analytical skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact with various levels of management
  • Planning, organisation, and administrative abilities, with PC literacy
  • Ability to maintain performance under pressure and solve problems effectively

  • Flexibility in working hours, including occasional overtime at weekends
  • Contact with various greases and oils
  • Training and use of overhead cranes
  • Understanding of manual handling techniques

  • Mandatory training will be provided
