We are recruiting a hardworking and versatile Multiskilled Technician with HGV to join a specialist environmental services team based in Manchester. This is a varied, hands-on role combining HGV driving, tanker operations, remediation works, groundworks and environmental services. As a Multiskilled Technician with HGV, you will work across a variety of commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects, supporting environmental clean-ups, tank installations, spill response operations and specialist site works. No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys practical outdoor work, operating specialist equipment and being part of a team that delivers essential environmental and infrastructure services.
Key Responsibilities
- HGV Driving & Vehicle Operations
- Operate company vehicles, including tanker and HGV Class 2 vehicles
- Complete daily vehicle inspections, defect reporting and compliance checks
- Ensure vehicles, plant and equipment are maintained in a safe and operational condition
- Adhere to drivers' hours, transport legislation and company procedures
- Support the safe transportation of equipment, materials and waste
- Environmental & Operational Services
- Carry out high-pressure water jetting and industrial cleaning activities
- Support spill response and environmental emergency works
- Undertake environmental remediation and clean-up operations
- Assist with tank, interceptor and drainage installation, servicing and maintenance
- Participate in tank uplift and removal projects
- Support civil engineering and groundwork activities where required
- Site Operations & Project Support
- Work as part of multidisciplinary operational teams on customer sites
- Follow project plans, RAMS and safe systems of work
- Assist with site preparation, excavation and reinstatement activities
- Operate plant and specialist equipment where trained and authorised
- Support emergency response activities and out-of-hours call-outs when required
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all health, safety and environmental standards
- Work in accordance with RAMS and company procedures
- Report hazards, incidents and near misses appropriately
- Ensure PPE is used and maintained correctly
- Promote a positive safety culture across all projects
- Customer Service & Teamwork
- Communicate professionally with customers and site representatives
- Complete job documentation accurately and on time
- Support colleagues and project teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Travel and stay away from home when required, with accommodation and travel provided
Essential Criteria
- HGV Class 2 Licence
- Experience in a practical, site-based or operational role
- Good understanding of RAMS and safe systems of work
- Experience completing vehicle checks and defect reporting
- Strong work ethic and willingness to undertake hands-on duties
- Flexible approach to working hours, overtime and travel
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Criteria
- ADR licence
- Groundworks, remediation or environmental services experience
- Tanker operations experience
- Plant operation experience
- Civil engineering or infrastructure background
- Spill response or industrial cleaning experience
