Role Overview
We are recruiting a skilled and versatile Multiskilled Technician with HGV to join a specialist environmental services team based in Tunbridge Wells.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining HGV driving, tanker operations, environmental remediation, groundworks and industrial services.
As a Multiskilled Technician with HGV, you will work across a range of commercial, infrastructure and environmental projects, supporting spill response, remediation activities, tank installations and specialist site works.
The successful candidate will enjoy a practical role where no two days are the same, working both independently and as part of a wider operational team to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality services to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- HGV Driving & Vehicle Operations
- Operate company vehicles, including tanker and HGV Class 2 vehicles
- Complete daily vehicle inspections, defect reporting and compliance checks
- Ensure vehicles, plant and equipment are maintained in a safe and operational condition
- Comply with transport legislation, drivers' hours regulations and company procedures
- Support the transportation of specialist equipment, materials and waste streams
- Environmental & Operational Services
- Carry out high-pressure water jetting and industrial cleaning activities
- Support environmental remediation and clean-up projects
- Respond to spill incidents and environmental emergencies
- Assist with tank and interceptor installation, servicing and inspections
- Support tank uplift and removal projects
- Undertake groundworks and site preparation activities where required
- Site Operations & Project Delivery
- Work on customer and infrastructure sites across a variety of sectors
- Follow RAMS, work instructions and project specifications
- Assist multidisciplinary operational teams with project delivery
- Operate specialist equipment and plant where trained and authorised
- Support emergency response services and reactive works when required
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all health, safety and environmental standards
- Work in accordance with risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work
- Report hazards, incidents and near misses appropriately
- Ensure PPE is used and maintained correctly
- Promote a positive safety culture across all operational activities
- Customer Service & Teamwork
- Build positive working relationships with customers and site representatives
- Complete job documentation accurately and within required timescales
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and operational teams
- Travel and stay away from home when required, with accommodation and travel covered
- Support colleagues and contribute to successful project delivery
Essential Criteria
- HGV Class 2 Licence
- Experience within a practical, hands-on operational environment
- Experience working to RAMS and safe systems of work
- Knowledge of vehicle inspections, compliance and defect reporting
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
- Flexible approach to overtime, travel and emergency response activities
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Full UK driving licence
