Role Overview
We are recruiting a motivated and inspiring Multi-Skills Construction Tutor to deliver engaging, hands-on vocational training to learners at HMP The Mount. This rewarding role goes far beyond classroom delivery; you will empower learners who may have had limited education, helping them build confidence, develop valuable trade skills, and work towards meaningful employment opportunities upon release. You will deliver high-quality practical sessions, create personalised training plans, and provide ongoing support, guidance, and motivation to help every learner reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Vocational Delivery & Learner Engagement
- Deliver engaging, practical multi-skills construction training to small groups.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver structured lessons that meet individual learning needs.
- Adapt teaching methods to support learners with a wide range of abilities and learning styles.
- Create and maintain tailored training plans that support individual progression goals.
- Provide regular feedback, advice, and pastoral support to help learners overcome barriers.
- Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages confidence and participation.
- Quality, Compliance & Record Keeping
- Ensure all training delivery meets required quality and compliance standards.
- Monitor, assess, and record learner progress accurately and in line with awarding-body expectations.
- Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, and health & safety requirements at all times.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and maintain high standards of delivery.
Essential Criteria
- Level 2 vocational qualification in a relevant construction or multi-skills trade.
- Strong, hands-on industry experience in one or more construction disciplines.
- Experience delivering practical, vocational-based training.
- Ability to engage, motivate, and support diverse groups of learners.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Teaching or assessing qualification (or willingness to work towards one during probation).
- Experience working in secure environments or with disadvantaged learner groups.
