Salary: Up to £45,000 + £5,000 London Weighting

Contract: Permanent, full time

Working Environment: Prison-based delivery across the London region (3-4 days per week on site)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Regional Quality Lead to support the improvement of teaching, learning and quality standards across the Prison Education Service (PES) in the London region. You will work alongside the Head of Quality to drive high-quality delivery, ensuring provision meets internal quality standards, external accreditation requirements and Ofsted expectations. This role has a strong focus on quality improvement, training, coaching, auditing, curriculum deep dives and supporting on-site quality managers to raise the standard of teaching, learning and assessment across multiple establishments. This is a region-wide role requiring regular travel across London prisons to provide hands-on, in-person support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Leadership & Improvement
    • Support the Head of Quality in delivering the full quality cycle across teaching and management teams.
    • Lead designated quality improvement priorities and projects.
    • Promote strong teaching, learning and assessment practice and share innovative approaches.
    • Lead curriculum deep dives, thematic reviews and quality health checks.
    • Monitor and support improvements to Quality Improvement Plans, including Ofsted-related actions.
  • Training, Coaching & Staff Development
    • Design and deliver training to quality managers, curriculum teams and teaching staff.
    • Lead the instructional coaching observation cycle and provide developmental feedback.
    • Coach, mentor and support new or developing on-site quality managers.
    • Develop pre-inspection guidance and resources to support sites in achieving positive inspection outcomes.
  • Audit, Compliance & Reporting
    • Carry out audits and internal quality reviews to assess compliance and progress.
    • Ensure teaching, learning resources and documentation meet required quality standards.
    • Produce timely performance and management reports as agreed with the Head of Quality.
    • Analyse MI, data and feedback to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Work closely with education managers, curriculum leads and quality specialists across all prisons.
    • Support the sharing of best practice across establishments and encourage consistent quality.
    • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support quality improvements and address underperformance.
    • Ensure compliance with organisational policies, Prevent Duty and British Values.

Essential Criteria

  • PGCE or equivalent teaching/learning qualification.
  • Strong understanding of high-quality delivery in prison education.
  • Experience managing or supporting teams in a prison environment.
  • Experience working with external inspection bodies (e.g., Ofsted, awarding organisations).
  • Experience implementing or managing quality frameworks and monitoring tools.
  • Strong background in coaching to improve quality of delivery.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • ICT skills at Level 2 or above.
  • Level 3 English and Maths.
  • Ability to travel across multiple sites; full driving licence essential.

Desirable Criteria

  • Verifier or assessor qualifications.
  • Degree-level academic background in a subject taught within education.
  • Experience delivering training or quality improvement within prison education.
