Role Overview: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Residential Childcare Tutor / Assessor to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment to learners working towards Residential Childcare qualifications up to Level 5. This hybrid role combines remote delivery with face-to-face learner visits across the South West region. As a Residential Childcare Tutor / Assessor, you will support learners throughout their qualification journey, helping them develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to succeed within the residential childcare sector. You will manage a caseload of learners, providing personalised support from induction through to completion, ensuring a positive, engaging and compliant learning experience that drives achievement and progression.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching, Learning & Assessment: Deliver engaging teaching, learning and assessment across Residential Childcare qualifications up to Level 5. Support learners through a personalised learning journey from enrolment to completion. Conduct initial assessments and develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs). Deliver a blend of remote and face-to-face learning and assessment activity. Support learners to develop occupational competence and professional behaviours.
- Learner Management & Progression: Manage and support a caseload of learners across the South West region. Conduct regular progress reviews and coaching sessions. Motivate learners to achieve timely progression and completion. Work closely with employers and managers to support learner development. Identify and address barriers to achievement.
- Quality, Compliance & Administration: Maintain accurate learner records and e-portfolio documentation. Ensure delivery meets awarding body and funding requirements. Participate in quality assurance activities and standardisation meetings. Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion throughout delivery. Work towards achievement, retention and timely completion targets.
- Partnership & Employer Engagement: Build positive relationships with employers and workplace managers. Provide guidance on qualification requirements and learner development. Support employers in creating effective workplace learning opportunities. Promote best practice within Residential Childcare settings.
Essential Criteria:
- Level 3 qualification (or above) in Residential Childcare.
- Experience working within Residential Childcare settings.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage a learner caseload effectively.
- Confident using Microsoft Teams and e-portfolio systems.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the South West region.
Desirable Criteria:
- Teaching or assessing qualification (TAQA, CAVA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent).
- Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification.
- Experience delivering or assessing Residential Childcare qualifications.
- Experience delivering apprenticeships or funded learning programmes.
- Experience working within blended or hybrid learning environments.
Training & Development Opportunity: Experienced Residential Childcare professionals without assessor qualifications are encouraged to apply. Full support available to achieve the Level 3 CAVA qualification. Excellent opportunity for Deputy Managers, Registered Managers and Senior Practitioners looking to move into learning and development. Salary will reflect qualifications and previous delivery experience.
Additional Information: Hybrid role combining remote delivery and learner visits. Travel required across Plymouth, Portsmouth, Southampton, Bournemouth, Bristol and surrounding areas. Learner visits typically conducted monthly, depending on caseload and geography. Role subject to appropriate safeguarding and compliance checks.
