Role Overview

We are looking to recruit a Gateway Facilitator (Justice Work Coach) to deliver short courses in Personal and Social Development (PSD) to learners based at HMP Stocken. In this role, you will work with small groups of prison-based learners, supporting them to develop their confidence, employability, life skills and personal effectiveness. You will help them build the knowledge and behaviours needed to progress towards their long-term goals and aspirations, both inside custody and on release. You will ensure that suitable learning plans are in place, provide advice and guidance where required, and deliver high-quality, engaging sessions that motivate learners to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured PSD sessions and employability-focused short courses.
  • Support learners through tailored action plans that promote personal development and progression.
  • Use a range of engaging teaching strategies to motivate and inspire learners.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to help learners overcome barriers.
  • Maintain accurate learner records, documentation and progress tracking.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and prison partners to support learner needs.
  • Support wider resettlement and employability outcomes for learners.
  • Ensure all delivery meets internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Essential

  • A Level 2 vocational qualification.
  • Significant vocational experience within your professional field.
  • Experience delivering vocational or employability training.
  • Ability to use varied training methods to engage learners with diverse needs.

Desirable

  • A teaching or assessing qualification (e.g., AET/PTLLS/TAQA).
  • Experience working in custodial or high-support environments.

If you do not currently hold a teaching or assessing qualification, we will support you to gain this as part of your probationary period.
