Job Title: English, Maths & IT Tutor Location: HMYOI Werrington Salary: From £30,000 (negotiable depending on experience) Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Role Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dynamic English, Maths & IT Tutor to deliver high-quality Functional Skills training to young learners at HMYOI Werrington. Working with small class sizes, you’ll support learners to build confidence, enhance their core skills, and work towards accredited qualifications. You will play a key role in shaping the educational experience of prison-based learners, helping them to develop essential literacy, numeracy, and digital skills that will support their rehabilitation and future progression. Your delivery will be tailored, interactive, and responsive to learner needs, enabling individuals to overcome barriers and reach their full potential. You will also ensure that appropriate training plans, advice and guidance are in place throughout the learner journey. Key Responsibilities: * Deliver engaging and inclusive sessions in English, Maths and IT (Functional Skills) to learners aged 18 and under. * Create individual learning plans based on initial assessments and learner goals. * Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs and behaviours. * Ensure learners are supported and motivated to achieve both accredited and personal development goals. * Embed personal development, employability, and life skills into delivery where appropriate. * Track learner progress and provide constructive feedback to support continued improvement. * Support learners to develop the confidence and skills required for reintegration and employment. * Maintain records in line with quality and compliance requirements. Essential/Desirable Criteria: Essential * Level 3 qualifications (or higher) in English, Maths, and IT (or equivalent). * Proven experience in delivering training, tutoring or support in an educational setting. * Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills. * Ability to use a variety of teaching methods to engage and motivate learners. * Passion for helping young people achieve their goals in challenging environments. Desirable * Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. Level 3 Award in Education & Training, PGCE, CertEd). * Experience working within the secure estate or with vulnerable learners. * Understanding of safeguarding, equality and diversity, and SEND strategies.
