- About the Opportunity
Trigon Recruitment are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced ESOL Tutor to join a fantastic Grade 2 Ofsted training provider in Aberdeen on an ongoing sessional basis.
You will be responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive and personalised ESOL learning to a group of adult learners at Pre-Entry level.
You will support learners to build their confidence, develop their English language skills and make meaningful progress towards their individual learning and progression goals.

Key Responsibilities Teaching, Learning & Assessment
- Set consistently high expectations for learners and support them to achieve positive learning outcomes.
- Deliver engaging, inclusive and personalised ESOL sessions that enable learners to develop their skills and make measurable progress.
- Carry out effective initial and diagnostic assessments to establish learners starting points and identify individual learning needs.
- Develop and maintain accurate Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), using assessment outcomes to inform teaching and learning.
- Deliver accredited ESOL qualifications and wider learning activities in line with awarding body and organisational requirements.
- Plan and adapt lessons to meet the needs of learners with different abilities, backgrounds and barriers to learning.
- Provide timely, constructive verbal and written feedback to encourage learner development and achievement.
- Monitor, assess, track and accurately record learner progress, identifying areas requiring additional intervention or support.
- Prepare learners effectively for summative assessments, including controlled assessments, external examinations and portfolio submissions.
- Create and use engaging, accessible learning resources to enhance the learner experience.
- Quality, Compliance & Administration
- Maintain high standards of assessment and ensure all assessment activity complies with JCQ and awarding body requirements.
- Follow secure assessment procedures and ensure assessment materials are managed appropriately.
- Support internal quality assurance activities and contribute to standardisation as required.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of schemes of work, lesson resources and teaching practices.
- Maintain accurate learner records and complete all required administration in line with contractual, organisational and funding requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with organisational policies, procedures and quality standards.
- Safeguarding & Learner Wellbeing
- Promote and maintain a strong safeguarding culture across all aspects of delivery.
- Adhere to Safeguarding and Prevent policies and procedures, maintaining a high level of vigilance at all times.
- Support learner wellbeing and create a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment.
- Manage learner behaviour, attendance and punctuality effectively, addressing concerns promptly and appropriately.
- Identify and escalation safeguarding or wellbeing concerns in line with organisational procedures.
- Collaboration & Professional Development
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure learners receive appropriate Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) and support with progression and employability.
- Work flexibly to meet changing business and contract requirements, including occasional changes to delivery locations or methods.
- Attend tutor meetings, standardisation sessions, CPD and other relevant meetings as required.
- Take responsibility for ongoing professional development and use feedback to continually enhance teaching practice.
- Participate fully in performance management processes, meeting agreed objectives, deadlines and KPIs.
- Contribute positively to the wider development and continuous improvement of the provision.
- Virtual & Digital Delivery
- Demonstrate confidence in using digital platforms and technology to support teaching and learning.
- Deliver or support virtual learning where required, adapting teaching methods to maintain learner engagement and participation.
- Use appropriate digital resources to enhance the learning experience and support learners digital skills.
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience delivering
ESOL teaching to adult learners.
- A recognised teaching qualification such as
PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent .
- Previous experience working within an adult education or further education environment.
- Experience delivering accredited ESOL qualifications.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of
Safeguarding and Prevent .
- Proven ability to deliver personalised learning to adults with diverse abilities, needs and barriers to learning.
- Experience completing assessment, learner progress tracking and Individual Learning Plans.
- Ability to develop engaging and accessible learning resources.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively while also managing teaching responsibilities independently.
- Confidence using digital and online learning platforms.
- Flexible approach to delivery and the ability to adapt to changing learner and business requirements.
Desirable
- Experience delivering Pre-Entry ESOL programmes.
- Experience working with learners who have significant barriers to learning.
- Experience supporting learners with progression into further education, training or employment.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
