We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Business Tutor to deliver high quality, practical vocational training to learners at HMP Littlehey. In this rewarding role, you will support prison-based learners in developing their business knowledge, skills, and behaviours, helping them work towards recognised qualifications that contribute to their long term goals and employment prospects. Working with small groups, you will design structured lessons, deliver engaging classroom sessions, and guide learners through all stages of their development. Your contribution will play a vital part in progression, rehabilitation, and successful learner outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging Business lessons to small groups of learners.
- Develop learners' Business knowledge, employability behaviours, and work ready skills.
- Tailor lessons to individual learning needs and align delivery with qualification standards.
- Assess and track learner progress, providing clear and constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, achievement, and assessment evidence.
- Build a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages participation.
- Support learners in developing confidence, resilience, and transferable workplace skills.
- Contribute to the creation and review of individual learning plans (ILPs).
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, and health & safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and prison staff to ensure effective programme delivery.
- Complete all administrative tasks including registers, ILPs, reviews, and awarding body paperwork within required deadlines.
Essential Criteria
- A recognised Business qualification or equivalent.
- Substantial vocational experience within a Business related field.
- Experience delivering vocational or classroom based training.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to use varied teaching and assessment methods to engage learners.
Desirable Criteria
- A teaching or assessing qualification (e.g., PTLLS, AET, CAVA).
- Experience delivering training within prison education or alternative learning environments.
- Flexibility to deliver across multiple curriculum areas if required.
- Willingness to work towards teaching/assessing qualifications (full training provided).
