Role Overview

We are recruiting an enthusiastic and experienced Beauty Tutor (Nails) to deliver engaging vocational training within a custodial education setting at HMP Foston Hall. As a Beauty Tutor, you will work with small groups of prison-based learners, supporting them to develop practical nail and beauty therapy skills, increase their confidence and build employability skills that support future career opportunities. Working closely with the wider education team, you will deliver high-quality learning that helps learners achieve qualifications, develop positive behaviours and work towards successful rehabilitation and progression goals. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced beauty professional looking to use their industry knowledge to make a genuine difference to learners' lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging vocational training in Nails and Beauty Therapy
  • Plan and deliver structured learning sessions aligned to curriculum requirements
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit individual learner needs and abilities
  • Create a positive, inclusive and motivating learning environment
  • Support learners to develop practical vocational skills and industry knowledge
  • Deliver cover and support across a range of curriculum areas where required

Learner Support & Progression

  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to support learner development
  • Develop and maintain individual learning plans
  • Provide advice, guidance and constructive feedback to learners
  • Support learners to achieve qualifications and personal development goals
  • Encourage confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours
  • Promote progression into further learning, training or employment opportunities

Quality, Compliance & Administration

  • Maintain accurate learner records and documentation
  • Ensure delivery meets awarding body, quality assurance and compliance standards
  • Support curriculum development and continuous improvement activities
  • Work collaboratively with education colleagues and support staff
  • Contribute to a safe, secure and supportive learning environment

Essential Criteria

  • Vocational qualification in Nails, Beauty Therapy or a related discipline
  • Significant industry experience within the beauty sector
  • Experience delivering training, coaching or learner support
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds
  • Flexible approach to delivery across different curriculum areas
  • Strong organisational and administration skills

Desirable Criteria

  • Teaching qualification (AET, PTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent)
  • Assessor qualification (TAQA, CAVA or equivalent)
  • Experience delivering accredited vocational qualifications
  • Experience working within prison education, adult learning or alternative education settings
  • Experience supporting learners with additional learning needs

Training & Development

  • Full support available to achieve a recognised teaching qualification if not already held
  • Full support available to achieve an assessing qualification where required
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities within education and training
