Job Description

Job Title: Adult Skills Tutor\\n\\nLocation: Brighton\\n\\nSalary: £27,000 per annum\\n\\nContract Type: Fixed-term to 31st July 2026\\n\\n(37.5 hours per week) Annual Leave: 25 days + 8 bank holidays (pro-rata)\\n\\nRole Overview:\\n\\nAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Adult Skills Tutor to deliver a range of short, accredited training courses for adult learners in Brighton and Hove. This role is ideal for a passionate educator with experience in adult learning, looking to support individuals into further education, training or employment.\\n\\nYou will be delivering classroom-based courses ranging from 1 to 12 days in duration across a diverse curriculum that may include:\\n\\n· Support Work in Schools and Colleges\\n\\n· Health & Safety with CSCS Card\\n\\n· Understanding Autism\\n\\n· Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties\\n\\n· Customer Service\\n\\n· Safeguarding and Prevent\\n\\n· Food Safety\\n\\nAll teaching will be delivered face-to-face from our Brighton centre.\\n\\nKey Responsibilities:\\n\\n· Deliver classroom-based accredited training across a range of adult education courses.\\n\\n· Support learners through the full learning journey, from enrolment to progression.\\n\\n· Conduct effective initial assessments and develop tailored learner action plans.\\n\\n· Maintain and update individual learning plans and progress reviews.\\n\\n· Provide continuous advice, guidance and pastoral support.\\n\\n· Ensure high standards of teaching and learning are consistently maintained.\\n\\n· Assess and mark learner work accurately and timely.\\n\\n· Contribute to curriculum planning and resource development.\\n\\n· Participate in regular team meetings and CPD activities.\\n\\n· Manage a caseload of learners effectively and support progression opportunities.\\n\\n· Promote and embed safeguarding, equality and safe working practices at all times.\\n\\nEssential/Desirable Criteria:\\n\\nEssential:\\n\\n· PGCE or a recognised teaching qualification at Level 3 or above.\\n\\n· Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics.\\n\\n· Experience delivering adult education/training programmes.\\n\\n· Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and telephone).\\n\\n· Well-developed organisational and time-management skills.\\n\\n· ICT proficient and confident using digital learning tools.\\n\\n· Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.\\n\\n· Understanding of the Further Education sector and National Occupational Standards.\\n\\n· Committed to equality, diversity, safeguarding and Prevent.\\n\\n· Willingness to undertake appropriate CPD and adapt to new methods of delivery.\\n\\nDesirable:\\n\\n· Background in adult employability training or working with diverse learner groups.\\n\\n· Knowledge of curriculum planning and experience supporting learner progression.\\n\\nFor more information or to apply, please contact Robert Rowe
