Trident Recruitment is working with a leading precision engineering manufacturer in Portsmouth to recruit an experienced CNC Miller / CAM Programmer.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business manufacturing high-precision injection mould tooling using the latest 3 and 5-axis machining technology.

The Role

You will be responsible for the CAM programming, setting and operating of GFMS Mikron 3 & 5 Axis CNC milling machines, producing complex, high-precision components to exceptional quality standards.

Working as part of a close-knit team, you'll also be expected to support other areas of the business when required while demonstrating the confidence to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • CAM programming using Openmind Hypermill
  • Setting and operating GFMS Mikron 3 & 5 Axis CNC milling machines
  • Producing precision injection mould tooling
  • Optimising and editing CNC programs
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models
  • Applying best practices for work holding and machining strategies
  • Ensuring all components meet tight tolerances and quality requirements
  • Working collaboratively with engineering and production teams
  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping and safe working practices

Requirements

  • Proven Openmind Hypermill CAM programming experience
  • Good working knowledge of Heidenhain controls
  • Strong experience with 3 Axis CNC milling (5 Axis experience is highly desirable)
  • Experience setting and operating CNC milling machines
  • Knowledge of work holding best practices
  • Good understanding of metallic materials and machining behaviour
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD data
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A flexible, hands-on approach to work
  • Experience machining injection mould tooling would be a distinct advantage
