Trident IES, formerly known as IES Callenberg Ltd, has been delivering specialist HVAC&R services to the energy sector since 1984. With over 30 years of experience in HVAC&R repair, maintenance and engineering services, we are proud to be the largest independent provider of HVAC&R services in the North Sea. Our client portfolio includes major oil & gas operators and integrated service companies, and we continue to grow our presence across the renewable energy sector, supporting both onshore and offshore substations across a range of windfarm projects.
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced and motivated HVAC Design Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen on a full-time hybrid basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer to play a key role in the design, delivery and lifecycle management of HVAC projects, supporting both offshore and onshore operations across the energy sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for the production and review of detailed HVAC design calculations, drawings and technical documentation, while also supporting project execution through installation, commissioning and client handover. As this role involves offshore and overseas travel, candidates must be willing and able to travel as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing and reviewing detailed HVAC design calculations, including:
- Heating and cooling load calculations
- Psychrometric analysis
- Airflow rate calculations
- Plant and equipment sizing and selection
- Fabrication drawings
- Flow diagrams
- Pressure and instrumentation diagrams
- Survey reports
- Basis of Design documents
- System operating philosophies
- Equipment specifications
- Data sheets
- Extent and condition of systems
- Operational status of installations
- Required remedial works or upgrades
What We’re Looking For
- BEng or BSc in HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering preferred (SCQF Level 8 and above), although this is not essential where sufficient relevant experience can be demonstrated
- Strong technical capability in the design of HVAC systems in line with relevant UK and international codes and standards
- Previous experience in a similar HVAC design engineering role, ideally within oil & gas, offshore energy or industrial environments
- Strong communication skills with a client-focused and solution-oriented approach
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and solve problems effectively
- Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload to meet project deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
- Experience using MEP software packages would be advantageous
- Valid offshore certification, such as MIST, OGUK Medical (These are preferred but not essential.)
