About the role
To provide independent commercial leadership, governance and financial assurance across all Property Services contracts. The Commercial Manager will act as Trident's intelligent client, ensuring contractor costs are robustly challenged, value for money is achieved, commercial risk is managed and contractual entitlements are fully realised.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the validation and approval of contractor valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
- Independently review, challenge and authorise all contractor variation claims ensuring adequate evidence, contractual entitlement, value for money and budget availability prior to approval.
- Establish robust cost control processes across all contracts.
- Identify and mitigate cost leakage and over-claiming and commercial risk.
- Provide commercial oversight of repairs, voids, planned works, and compliance contracts.
- Ensure contractors operate within agreed pricing frameworks and contract terms.
- Contribute to LTFP assumptions and investment modelling and extension of Time assessment (where applicable).
Who we're looking for?
- Commercial/QS experience in housing or construction.
- Managing valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Working on multi-million-pound contracts.
- Challenging contractor costs and delivery control.
- NEC/JCT administration.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (or equivalent experience).
- MRICS or working towards.
- Experience of JCT/NEC.
