We are seeking an experienced Building Safety Manager to provide strong operational leadership across fire and building safety. This key role within Property Services will ensure risks are controlled, actions are completed and the Group can evidence that its building safety arrangements are effective. About the role Reporting to the Head of Safety and Compliance, you will lead the day-to-day management and assurance of building and fire safety across the Group's higher-risk, high-rise, complex and other designated residential buildings. You will provide technical oversight, maintain effective controls and escalate material risks promptly. What you'll be doing Managing and assuring fire and building safety arrangements across the Group's relevant residential buildings. Owning the fire risk assessment programme and ensuring remedial actions are risk-rated, target-dated, progressed and evidenced to completion. Leading assurance of fire door inspection, repair and replacement programmes, including inspection quality and contractor competence. Maintaining accurate building safety information and supporting Building Safety Case Reports, the golden thread and regulatory submissions. Managing specialist contractors and consultants through performance standards, technical audits, post-inspections and escalation. Producing clear assurance on compliance, overdue actions, emerging risks and contractor performance. Supporting audits, regulator engagement and incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are tracked to closure. Working with residents, colleagues, Fire and Rescue Services and other stakeholders so safety concerns are acted upon. Driving continuous improvement in building safety controls, data quality and operational practice. Who we're looking for? We are looking for a technically credible, delivery-focused building safety professional with sound judgement, strong operational grip and a clear commitment to resident safety. You will bring: Strong practical experience of building and fire safety within social housing or another complex residential or regulated environment. Direct experience of fire risk assessments, fire safety remedial programmes and fire door inspection or replacement arrangements. Good knowledge of higher-risk residential buildings, the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act and Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order. Experience managing specialist contractors and challenging poor-quality work, weak evidence or underperformance. Strong compliance data, action-tracking, audit and assurance skills, with a disciplined approach to closing safety-critical actions. Excellent communication and influencing skills, with confidence to escalate material safety or compliance concerns. The ability to translate technical and legal requirements into clear operational controls and evidence-based assurance. Essential Qualifications A recognised fire safety qualification appropriate to the role, such as a Diploma in Fire Safety / Fire Safety Management or equivalent. A relevant building safety, fire safety, construction, surveying, engineering, property or health and safety qualification, or equivalent professional competence. A recognised health and safety qualification, such as NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent, is desirable. Evidence of continuing professional development in building safety, fire safety and regulatory practice. Why join us?
