Oncology Pharmacist – Permanent (Derby)
Salary: £55,000–£60,000 DOE
Hours: 37.5 per week

About the Role
Trident healthcare are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Oncology Pharmacist to join our clients dynamic team in Derby. The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Oncology Pharmacist to support daily oncology operations, contribute to team development, and ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality patient care. This is a hybrid position offering two days per week working from home, and the postholder must be able to commute to Derby regularly. Standard working hours are 9:00–17:30, with the option to discuss condensed or flexible working arrangements on an individual basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist oncology advice and clinical leadership for patient care, including the clinical verification of prescriptions in line with GPhC and BOPA guidelines.
- Offer timely clinical support to medical and nursing teams, ensuring consistently high standards of care.
- Drive operational excellence by supporting continuous improvement across Central Pharmacy operations, collaborating with internal and external teams, contributing to business projects, and helping maintain an organised, compliant facility.
- Support training and onboarding, including developing prescription templates and training materials, and delivering both operational and clinical training to the wider team.
- Ensure full compliance with SOPs, regulatory standards, GMP, and MHRA requirements, while participating in audits and contributing to ongoing quality assurance.

About the Candidate
To succeed in this role, you must be a GPhC-registered pharmacist with strong clinical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to maintain focus over long periods. Experience in hospital or homecare settings is highly desirable, and strong communication skills, a systematic approach, and a commitment to ongoing professional development are essential. Candidates must have completed BOPA SACT Passport modules 2a, 2b, and 2c in solid tumour and haematology. You should have experience working on oncology wards, clinically screening Oncology SACT prescriptions, administering IV oncology treatments, ordering chemotherapy, and using oncology e-prescribing systems such as iQemo. A postgraduate qualification in oncology, experience in clinical decision-making, and experience training or upskilling pharmacy team members would be advantageous.
