We are seeking a Domestic Abuse Long-Term Accommodation Female Support Worker on a part-time basis for our Domestic Abuse Service in Birmingham.

About You
We are looking for a DALT Female Support Worker who is empathetic, highly motivated, energetic, and experienced to join our diverse team. You will have recent experience working in a refuge or support setting within the last 3 years and be able to demonstrate this. Your responsibilities will include supporting service users with daily needs, managing the day-to-day operations of the services, and building functions.
- Sound knowledge of Domestic Violence and Abuse and its impact on customers and their children
- Knowledge of applying for Universal Credit, housing applications, supporting women with no recourse to public funds, working with professionals on immigration issues, and supporting grant applications for clients moving on
- Familiarity with other local services in Birmingham to provide additional support and effective communication and advocacy with professionals
- Deliver a \’whole family approach\’, supporting families and children affected by domestic abuse, including during pregnancy, early help, healthy relationships, and liaising with local schools and agencies
- Assist individuals with life skills, managing finances, reducing debt, and increasing income
- Signpost clients to relevant support sources
- Provide crisis intervention to prevent escalation
- Be aware of issues affecting client well-being, such as homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health
- Offer flexible support across all refuge sites when necessary
- Operate in a person-centred and professional manner
- Work with clients to prepare for independent living and conduct safety risk assessments
- Use IT and data systems competently, maintaining updated files
- Participate in a rotated helpline to handle referrals and complete DASH risk assessments, with good knowledge of MARAC protocols and safeguarding
