Key Responsibilities
- Estimating & Pre-Construction
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for construction projects.
- Measure quantities from drawings and specifications.
- Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Prepare cost plans, budgets, and value engineering proposals.
- Support pre-construction planning and bid reviews.
- Commercial & Cost Management
- Manage project budgets, cost reporting, and cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor costs against budgets and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Prepare monthly valuations, cost value reconciliations (CVRs), and financial reports.
- Support commercial decision-making with accurate and timely information.
- Procurement & Subcontract Management
- Assist with procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare and issue enquiry packages and analyse returns.
- Support subcontractor appointment and contract administration.
- Manage variations, change control, and subcontractor payments.
- Contract Administration & Reporting
- Assist with contract administration in line with contract conditions.
- Prepare and agree interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and site teams on commercial matters.
- Project & Team Support
- Work closely with site managers and project teams to control costs.
- Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
- Assist with handover and post-completion commercial activities.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline.
- Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator role within construction.
- Knowledge of standard forms of construction contracts.
- Competent IT skills, including estimating and cost management software.
- Full UK driving licence.
