Due to continued growth, Tricel is currently seeking a reliable, hardworking, and motivated General Operative to join the manufacturing team at Tricel Gloucester. As a General Operative, you will play a vital role within the manufacturing function of the business. This is a hands-on role, responsible for operating machinery, supporting assembly and stores activities, and ensuring products are manufactured, packed and dispatched efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping. This role is suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced factory environment, can work flexibly, and takes pride in producing quality work. This position operates a shift rotation: Week 1: 06:00 – 14:00 (Monday to Friday); Week 2: 14:00 – 22:00 (Monday to Friday) and reports directly to the Manufacturing Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Operating the factory presses, ensuring best practice and safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Working in all areas of the factory including SMC, drilling machines, stores & assembly.
- Preparing & loading goods for dispatch, following company procedure as required to meet business needs.
- Assisting with forklift duties where a licence is held.
- Packing materials for movement and storage around the factory and dispatch.
- Labeling of goods.
- Assisting goods inwards with picking, packing and labeling for the daily manifest.
- Putting stock away & taking part in monthly stock takes.
- General housekeeping of the factory, ensuring H&S guidelines are followed at all times.
- Ensuring the safety of yourself and others at all times, reporting any issues or concerns to management; ensuring all work meets quality and compliance requirements.
- Any other duties as assigned by the management team, in order to meet business needs.
Qualifications / Skills:
- Experience of working within a manufacturing environment is desirable.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in all aspects of the factory.
- Eye for detail to ensure accuracy and precision.
- Good level of numeracy skills.
- Willingness to work flexibly and do overtime when available.
- Ability to carry out manual handling activities, including lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving heavy loads up to 29 kg.
