This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a senior finance position with a clear progression pathway. You’ll lead the day-to-day accounting function, working closely with the Managing Director and Finance Director to provide insight, control, and direction. It’s a hands-on leadership role where you’ll not only oversee operations but also contribute to the wider strategy of the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the finance team to deliver accurate and timely accounting operations.
- Overseeing financial ledgers, reconciliations, VAT, payroll, and transactional processes.
- Producing monthly management accounts and supporting reporting to senior leadership.
- Managing cash flow, supplier payments, and credit control activities.
- Ensuring all statutory submissions (VAT, PAYE) are completed accurately and on time.
- Collaborating with HR and other departments to ensure accurate financial data.
- Supporting audits and working closely with external accountants.
- Driving process improvements and strengthening financial controls.
- Developing and mentoring the finance team to build capability and performance.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a finance or accounting leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of management accounts and financial reporting.
- Ability to lead and develop a small finance team.
- Hands-on experience across transactional finance (payroll, VAT, ledgers).
- Confident working with senior stakeholders and external advisors.
- Experience within an SME environment (desirable).
- Part-qualified or qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience.
