Job Title: Generator Commissioning Engineer
Location: London
Salary: £50,000 to £55,000
About The Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Generator Commissioning Engineer to join their Special Projects Division, supporting projects from initial design through to delivery, commissioning, and final handover. This role is ideal for a highly skilled engineer with a deep technical background in generator systems who is looking to progress into a broader project management and delivery role. The projects involve complex, high-value installations requiring expertise in synchronisation and fault-finding.
Key Responsibilities

  • Commission and fault-find on low-voltage generator systems up to 3MVA.
  • Set up and commission synchronising systems, including island mode and mains paralleling configurations.
  • Work across the project lifecyclesupporting design input, attending site installations, commissioning, and final handover.
  • Liaise with clients, site teams, project managers, and consultants to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Interpret and work with systems from manufacturers such as DeepSea, ComAp, Woodward, and FG Wilson.
  • Operate within industry and project-specific standards, particularly BS7671.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and site requirements.
  • Assist in developing project documentation and tracking using tools such as Microsoft Office and Project.

Essential

  • Proven experience commissioning and fault-finding on generators up to 3MVA.
  • Experience with synchronisation systems in both island and mains parallel modes.
  • Familiarity with generator controls and support systems, including fuel systems, exhaust flues, and air movement.
  • Proficient with DeepSea, ComAp, Woodward, and FG Wilson systems.
  • Current ECS/CSCS card and eligibility to work on construction sites.
  • SSSTS certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication skills with a professional approach to customer and stakeholder interaction.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
  • Right to work and reside permanently in the UK.
