The Opportunity
We are working with a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor seeking an experienced Head of Bid Management to lead and develop their Work Winning function from their Swindon office. This is a senior leadership role, responsible for driving bid strategy, managing high‑performing bid teams, and ensuring consistent governance and quality across multiple tenders and frameworks. You will play a key role in shaping the company's growth pipeline and securing major infrastructure opportunities across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership to the Bid Management and Work Winning teams
- Lead, motivate and develop Bid Managers, Estimators, Coordinators and Bid Writers
- Oversee multiple concurrent bids, ensuring delivery against business targets
- Drive bid strategies aligned with organisational and sector objectives
- Chair bid meetings and contribute to the wider Work Winning leadership team
- Ensure governance, procedures and tender processes are followed throughout
- Collaborate with Operations, Commercial, Planning, Technical, Procurement and HSQE teams
- Promote continuous improvement, innovation and quality within submissions
- Manage resources, budgets, tender costs and departmental performance reporting
Key Requirements
- Strong knowledge of the UK construction and infrastructure market
- Proven experience leading bid teams on major civil engineering tenders
- Excellent understanding of procurement legislation and governance frameworks
- Commercial awareness across contract, technical and pricing strategies
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder and client‑facing skills
- Ability to influence senior internal teams and drive outcomes across the business
- Passion for developing people, improving processes and delivering winning bids
