I am recruiting for a Senior Estimator to join a major civils contractor delivering complex projects across the water and wastewater sector. This is a senior commercial role based in Manchester focused on large scale frameworks and tenders, typically ranging from £50 million upwards, with a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming work across civils, shafts and tunnelling packages.
The business is looking for someone with a solid civil engineering background within water infrastructure, a proven bid winning track record, and the ability to lead pricing strategy from first principles through to submission and handover.
You will take a leading position within the pre construction team, responsible for producing competitive, compliant and profitable tenders across major water and civils projects. Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading pricing activities
- Supporting bid teams
- Working closely with planners and bid managers on construction methodology
- Identifying commercial risk and opportunity
- Preparing adjudication packs
- Presenting estimates at senior level
- Supporting handover into delivery teams following contract award
You will play a key role in shaping win strategy and ensuring all tender submissions are commercially robust and technically feasible.
This role will suit an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong background in civil engineering within the water sector. You will ideally bring:
- Proven estimating experience across water and wastewater civils
- Background in shafts, tunnelling or major civils works
- Track record of winning work on tenders valued from £50 million
- Strong knowledge of pricing and first principles estimating
- Experience using estimating software, with Candy preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office capability
- Ability to lead complex tenders and engage senior stakeholders
- Rail sector experience would be desirable but not essential
