Rate: £500 - £600 per day (Umbrella PAYE). Contract: 18 months. Start: Immediate. IR35: Inside. Location: West London. Working Pattern: 5 days per week, site-based only (no hybrid or remote working considered).
We are recruiting for an experienced Environment & Sustainability Manager to support a major UK infrastructure project, working within a live non-hazardous waste transfer and logistics facility. This is a fully site-based role and will suit someone comfortable operating in a busy, operational environment with significant regulatory oversight.
The Role
You will take full responsibility for environmental compliance and sustainability delivery across a permitted waste transfer facility. Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as Technically Competent Manager (COCT) under the WAMITAB scheme
- Ensuring compliance with all Environmental Permit conditions, EMS and site operating plans
- Managing Environment Agency and regulator interfaces
- Leading environmental assurance, audits and reporting
- Providing environmental leadership across construction, logistics and supply chain teams
- Driving sustainability initiatives including carbon reduction and continuous improvement
- Advising senior management on environmental risk and performance
- Maintaining and improving an ISO 14001:2015 certified Environmental Management System
About You
- WAMITAB COCT Level 4 (Non-Hazardous Waste Treatment & Transfer) essential
- Strong environmental management experience within infrastructure, construction, rail or waste environments
- Confident working in a live site environment with regulators and auditors
- Proven senior stakeholder and leadership capability
- IEMA membership / Chartered Environmentalist preferred
