TRIbuild Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a leading energy infrastructure client for an experienced freelance Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team supporting overhead line (OHL) energy projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for a QS with strong energy or utilities sector experience to take on a varied commercial role across a live project portfolio.

The Role

  • Support the preparation of reports, claims, and commercial documentation within agreed timescales
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Business Unit and Project Managers
  • Monitor project risks, maintain risk registers, and manage subcontractor/supplier processes including quotations, valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts
  • Assist in managing compensation events, contract costs, and project profitability
  • Identify and manage variations, delays, and claims
  • Contribute to financial reporting, forecasting, and continuous process improvement
  • Attend project meetings and maintain commercial records and manuals
  • Work closely with commercial and project teams to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies
  • Undertake additional duties as required to support business and customer needs

What We're Looking For

  • Proven Quantity Surveying experience, ideally within the energy, utilities, or OHL sector
  • Strong understanding of NEC or similar contract forms, including compensation events
  • Experience managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, and final accounts
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid role with regular site presence at Waltham Cross
