TRIbuild Solutions are working in partnership with a leading infrastructure delivery organisation to recruit an experienced Shafts Lead for a major UK infrastructure programme based in NW London.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for the delivery of complex shaft and underground construction works across multiple assets.
Role Overview
The Shafts Lead will take overall responsibility for the planning, management and delivery of shaft-related works, including shaft sinking, adit mining, tunnel connections, reinforced concrete structures (including secondary lining), and associated underground works.
You will lead a team of Project Managers responsible for multiple shaft assets, managing the full lifecycle from design development and pre-construction through to construction, commissioning, handover and completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement the delivery strategy for all shaft and underground works
- Lead, manage and develop Project Managers and multidisciplinary site teams
- Oversee programme, cost, quality and safety performance across all shaft assets
- Ensure works are delivered in line with design, methodology and contractual requirements
- Drive a strong health, safety and quality culture across the project
- Manage interfaces with tunnelling, structures and wider project teams
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Identify and mitigate construction and programme risks
- Ensure lessons learned and best practice are embedded across delivery teams
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior delivery role on major infrastructure projects
- Strong background in shaft sinking, tunnelling or complex underground works
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assets and teams concurrently
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong understanding of health, safety, quality and programme control
- Ability to operate effectively in complex, high-pressure environments
