We're supporting a major utilities contractor with the recruitment of a High Voltage Test & Commissioning Engineer to work on UK Power Networks' 11kV, 33kV & 132kV distribution infrastructure across the East of England. This is a great opportunity to join a well-established team delivering high-profile projects in a stable, safety-first environment.
Location: This is a site-based role requiring presence in Hertfordshire 4 days per week. A full UK driving licence is essential.
The Role: As a key member of the substation build team, you'll be responsible for testing and commissioning HV plant and apparatus, integrating new equipment into live distribution networks, and ensuring quality and compliance with all regulatory standards. You'll be producing commissioning plans, attending client meetings, resolving design issues, and mentoring junior staff - all while promoting a culture of safety and technical excellence.
Requirements:
- Significant experience testing and commissioning on 11kV-132kV distribution networks.
- Solid understanding of engineering policy, safety procedures and HV legislation.
- HNC or Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental best practices.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to regional sites.
Salary & Package: £58,000 - £90,000 basic (depending on experience). Company car or car allowance. Private healthcare & health cash plan. Discretionary bonus scheme.
