We have an opportunity for an experienced Design Manager to join a growing contractor delivering high quality industrial and logistics projects across the UK. With a strong pipeline, high levels of repeat business and a genuinely collaborative culture, you will lead the full design process on major schemes, coordinating consultants and subcontract designers and ensuring projects achieve the highest standards of technical quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the design lifecycle from early concept development through to project completion, ensuring information is coordinated and delivered on time.
- Manage design documentation including drawings, specifications, queries and technical data.
- Lead design coordination meetings, ensuring clear actions and progress across all design partners and supply chain contributors.
- Prepare and organise design information required for client approvals, statutory submissions and regulatory compliance.
- Work with sustainability teams to incorporate environmental and performance standards, including relevant accreditation requirements.
- Review technical proposals to assess buildability, identify risks and highlight opportunities for optimisation.
- Provide technical guidance to project teams during procurement and delivery stages.
- Develop strong working relationships with consultants, subcontractors and internal teams to support cohesive project delivery.
- Ensure design outputs align with company procedures and legislative requirements, including quality, environmental and health and safety standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Background in engineering or architecture, ideally within industrial or large scale construction.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams.
- Strong understanding of design coordination, planning, buildability and compliance.
- Commercially astute with excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
