We are currently looking for an experienced Working Foreman with a strong carpentry background to join a number of ongoing school extension projects across London and the Home Counties. This is an excellent opportunity for a Working Foreman who enjoys a hands-on role and wants to combine their carpentry skills with site supervision and management responsibilities.

The successful Working Foreman will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the site, coordinating trades, maintaining site standards and ensuring works are completed safely and to the required programme. The role will also involve getting on the tools and assisting with carpentry works when required.

The Role

As a Working Foreman, you will play a key role in keeping the project running efficiently. You will work closely with the project management team, subcontractors and site operatives to ensure deadlines are achieved and works are delivered to a high standard. We are looking for a Working Foreman who is confident managing people but is equally comfortable picking up the tools and getting involved with the carpentry side of the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day supervision of site operations
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors and site operatives
  • Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
  • Liaise with the Site Manager and wider project team
  • Assist with carpentry and general construction works
  • Read and understand drawings and specifications
  • Monitor site progress and report any issues
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety
  • Ensure the site is kept organised and productive
  • Help coordinate materials, deliveries and labour requirements

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Working Foreman
  • Strong carpentry trade background
  • Carpentry qualifications/trade experience essential
  • SMSTS or SSSTS
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Valid CSCS Card
  • Strong site management and communication skills
  • Previous experience supervising construction projects
  • Ability to work hands-on and lead by example
  • Full UK driving licence and own vehicle for work purposes
