Endoline Automation is continuing to grow and we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our Production team in Biggleswade. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a well-established engineering manufacturer with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality packaging machinery to customers worldwide. You’ll play a key role in assembling bespoke machinery and specialist sub-assemblies used across a wide range of industries.

Location & Salary

  • Location: Biggleswade, Bedfordshire (SG18 8QB)
  • Salary: Up to £34,500 DOE + Overtime
  • Contract: Full-time | Permanent
  • Working Hours: Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm, Friday: 8:00am – 2:30pm, 38 hours per week
  • Overtime Rates: 1.5x hourly rate after 38 hours, Double time on Sundays

The Role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll be responsible for assembling machinery and mechanical sub-assemblies to a high standard while supporting production schedules and quality requirements. You will work closely with the wider production team to ensure all machinery is built accurately, safely, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting detailed mechanical assembly and pneumatic drawings
  • Building and assembling bespoke machinery and specialist sub-assemblies
  • Carrying out mechanical and pneumatic assembly work to a high standard
  • Running field wiring in preparation for electrical fitters
  • Conducting inspections of returned machinery and identifying faults
  • Carrying out repairs, replacements, and mechanical adjustments where required
  • Testing machinery and components to ensure correct operation
  • Working to production schedules and agreed build timelines
  • Maintaining high standards of health & safety and housekeeping

About You

We’re looking for someone with strong mechanical assembly experience who enjoys working within a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.

  • Previous experience in mechanical assembly
  • Experience building bespoke or special purpose machinery
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working to deadlines and production schedules
  • Health & Safety conscious
  • Basic IT skills including Word and Outlook
  • NVQ / BTEC qualification or equivalent engineering qualification
  • Electrical machine wiring experience
  • Pneumatics knowledge and experience

Additional Information

This role is fully site-based at our Biggleswade manufacturing facility. Specialist equipment will be provided, although candidates are expected to provide their own hand tools wherever possible.
