Location: Edinburgh, EH11 4EP
Salary: £22,932.00 per annum
Contract: Full time, Permanent – 35 hours / week – FTC until August 2026

Enable is one of Scotland’s leading charities, consisting of three pillars – enable cares, enable works and enable communities.

Across the group, we deliver community projects and campaigns, self-directed health and social care support and employability and training for people throughout Scotland.

Enable Communities has launched a new Youth Project for children and young people with learning disabilities across 8 areas of Scotland. Weekly groups for ages 8-12, 13-15 and 16-18, led by Youth Coordinators, will help young people build friendships, grow in confidence and develop new skills.

These groups also offer time away from family, encouraging independence and self-esteem. Through fun and engaging activities, young people will strengthen social networks, communication and confidence, while reducing isolation and supporting positive mental health.

As our Youth Coordinator you will be responsible for:

  • Lead and launch ENABLE Scotland’s youth programme regionally, building partnerships, networks and local engagement.
  • Deliver weekly sessions for ages 8-18, plus regular weekend activities.
  • Create inclusive, fun and engaging programmes that build confidence, independence, and social connections.
  • Recruit, support and manage parent volunteers in line with ENABLE Scotland policies.
  • Plan and deliver community activities that promote skills, wellbeing and participation.
  • Support young people to develop independent travel skills using ENABLE Scotland’s travel training app.
  • Involve young people and stakeholders in local campaigns and initiatives.

About You

We are looking for candidates who want to inspire children and young people with learning disabilities, can support them to become active, confident and develop new friends in their own community and support and improve their Mental Health and Wellbeing.

In order to be successful in this role you should have:

  • Experience working with children and young people, including those with learning disabilities and mental health challenges.
  • Ability to plan and deliver fun, inclusive and engaging activities that build skills, confidence and independence.
  • Strong communication skills to engage young people, families and community stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the challenges facing young people with additional needs as they transition into adulthood.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and school holidays as required.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety and compliance standards.
  • Experience of partnership working with schools and local organisations.
  • Passion for promoting the rights and inclusion of disabled young people.

It would be great if you had:

  • Experience in youth group delivery, volunteer recruitment and curriculum/activity planning.
  • Qualifications in youth work, education or mental health.
