About Us: Mayday Plant Hire is a successful, independent, customer-focused plant and tool hire company established in Croydon in 1977. We are proud to supply a wide range of plant and tools to both trade and domestic customers. As we continue to grow, we’re looking to expand our team with a highly motivated Plant Engineer / Fitter who shares our passion for delivering excellent service.
Plant Engineer / Fitter – Job Responsibilities:
- Inspect, service, repair, and maintain a variety of diesel and petrol-powered plant, including our fleet of over 30 excavators ranging from 1-tonne micro machines to 8-tonne models.
- Work both on-site and at our Croydon premises.
- Use our ‘InspHire’ hire software to manage equipment service records, record repairs, and order spare parts.
- Collaborate with management, fitters, and yard staff to prioritize plant processing and meet customer requirements.
- Perform manual lifting as required.
Ideal Candidate:
- Customer-focused with strong communication skills.
- A team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Motivated, flexible, and literate.
- Experienced in plant or vehicle mechanics (minimum of 5 years).
- Able to work efficiently with our software to maintain accurate records.
- Hold a full clean driving license.
