We are now recruiting for a skilled and proactive Goods Inwards Inspector to join our Quality Team in Lower Dicker. This is a key position responsible for ensuring that all incoming goods, components and assemblies meet required quality standards before entering production.
You will play a vital role in supplier quality management, driving continuous improvement, supporting root-cause investigations, and ensuring a ‘right first time’ approach across our supply chain.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong inspection and metrology experience who thrives in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.
In addition to this, as our Goods Inwards Inspector you will be responsible for:
- Building strong working relationships with vendors and suppliers, ensuring effective communication of quality issues
- Raising NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and obtain timely resolution from suppliers
- Conducting root-cause investigations relating to non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are completed
- Acting as the main point of contact for supplier-related quality concerns raised from the shopfloor
- Championing continuous improvement across the supply chain to drive a right-first-time culture
- Ensuring correct AQL inspection plans and quality groups are applied based on supplier performance, product criticality and new supplier status
- Managing the Red Flag process within the ERP system
- Reviewing supplier performance and support supplier audits and KPI reporting
Inspection Capability:
- Inspect sub-assemblies to engineering drawings using a variety of metrology tools
- Use CMM and Faro Arm equipment for dimensional inspection
- Work with products requiring tight tolerances, geometric tolerancing and complex datum structures
- Record deviations and non-conformances in line with specifications and standards
- Work with ISO 2859-1:1999 sampling procedures
In order to be successful in this role it is essential that you have:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a machine shop or engineering manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015 and quality/process management tools (e.g., SPC, AQL)
- Experience using CMM or Faro Arm and a wide range of metrology equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications
- Experience working with vendors/suppliers on complex quality issues
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good understanding of geometric tolerancing and precision components
It would be great if you had:
- Knowledge of welding or fabrication processes
- Experience within the vacuum industry
- BTEC/HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
