About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to join an established practice and help grow out a CFO practice. The role will be a hybrid role focused on delivery into existing accounts and developing further relationships with PE Funds. As a Principal Consultant in their CFO Practice, you will play a pivotal role in delivering board and C-suite retained search mandates for private equity and venture capital-backed growth companies, as well as for mid-to-large cap public and private firms. This is a highly entrepreneurial position for an experienced headhunter with a track record of success in placing CFOs. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, driving leadership talent solutions and fostering deep, long-term relationships with investors and portfolio companies.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver end-to-end C-suite and senior leadership search assignments (with a focus on CFO mandates), from client briefing through to successful placement.
- Advise board-level and executive clients on leadership competencies, succession planning, team build-outs post-investment, and inclusive talent strategies.
- Manage multiple concurrent mandates, ensuring the highest standards of execution and client service.
- Drive business development by nurturing and expanding existing client relationships, and identifying new opportunities within PE, VC, and portfolio company networks.
- Utilise a data-driven approach to market mapping, talent intelligence, and candidate assessment.
- Contribute to company best practices and knowledge sharing, supporting the scale-up of the CFO Practice and overall firm growth.
- Represent at industry events and through thought leadership initiatives.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of senior level recruitment/executive search experience, ideally with a focus on CFO and finance leadership roles within the life sciences, healthtech, or adjacent sectors.
- Demonstrated success delivering retained search mandates for PE/VC-backed clients, family offices, and/or multinational public/private companies.
- Proven ability to advise on leadership assessment, succession planning, and post-investment team build-outs.
- Strong commercial acumen, with a consistent record of billing and managing fee values in the £40k–£100k range per search.
- Energetic, hands-on, and highly collaborative approach; thrives in fast-paced, high-growth, entrepreneurial environments.
- Exceptional relationship-building, influencing, and advisory skills at C-suite and board level.
- Experience operating across the UK, EMEA, and US markets is highly desirable.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a track record of success in both boutique and established search environments.
Pay range and compensation package
- Competitive base salary (indicative range: up to £100,000) and expected total comp to be £250,000 + depending on performance
