Senior Designer

Exeter (HQ) or UK remote, commutable to Exeter or London for quarterly in-person meet-ups. Full-time.

About Tribe

We're a Shopify Plus agency with clients that include Pip & Nut, Bold Bean Co and the RNLI.

Our design work runs from brand refinement sprints and full website builds through to the email and paid media assets that keep a brand performing long after launch.

We work with ambitious businesses who care as much about how something looks as how it performs, and we're built to match that.

The Role

We're hiring a Senior Designer with deep, hands-on Figma expertise (this is non-negotiable) and a genuine interest in consumer brands and ecommerce.

Direct experience designing for DTC or challenger brands is ideal.

You'll report into the Head of Design, working alongside another Senior Designer, a Mid-weight Designer and a Junior Designer.

What You'll Do

  • Create compelling visual content across digital design touchpoints
  • Build web design frameworks (wireframes, mockups, prototypes) for web and mobile.
  • Spot problems in design output early and solve them elegantly, not just flag them.
  • Challenge and shape creative briefs so the output actually meets the client's needs.
  • Champion the brands you work on, keeping their guidelines upheld across every touchpoint.
  • Bring ideas as well as execution, with real attention to detail on every piece of work.
  • Support the Growth Team with paid media and email assets, and the Build Team with best-practice UX and UI on websites.
  • Build genuine working relationships across design, marketing and development, and keep Account Management in the loop on status, quality and bottlenecks.
  • Manage your own schedule and workload, working with Account Management to hit client timelines.
  • Represent design in kick-offs, presentations, reviews and pitches.
  • Keep creative briefs complete and concise, with everything needed ready before work starts.
  • Run thorough aesthetic QA on developed sites, so your designs land exactly as intended in the final build.
  • Stay ahead of design trends, tools and competitor activity, and bring that thinking back into your own work.
  • What You'll Bring
  • Expert-level Figma: component libraries, auto-layout, variants, prototyping. You should be able to build and maintain a scalable design system, not just work within one.
  • A strong portfolio of ecommerce and consumer brand work. Shopify experience is a strong plus.
  • A genuine interest in DTC and consumer goods. You follow the brands and have opinions on what makes a challenger brand stand out.
  • Confidence presenting and defending design decisions directly to clients.
  • Experience across a mix of ecommerce touch points - both website and paid media / email design, and an understanding of how one informs the other

Perks & Culture

We're an ambitious, solution-orientated team who genuinely enjoy the brands we work with and the relationships we build with clients.

We're AI-forward too: experience with Figma Make, Claude Design or similar AI tools and workflows is actively encouraged.

Beyond the day job

  • Flexible working, and up to a month a year to work remotely.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • A day off on your birthday.
  • Summer Fridays, plus a summer team day and socials throughout the year.
  • Extra day of annual leave for every year of service

We're looking for someone who gets early-stage brands, the pressure they're under and the pace they move at, and who wants to help them do it properly.

  • Location
  • Our HQ is in Exeter, Devon.

We'd love someone based with the rest of the design team in the office, but we're just as open to UK-based remote working, provided it's a commutable distance to Exeter or London for at least quarterly in-person meet-ups.

Much of the team is spread across London, Bristol, Exeter and Cornwall.
