The Commercial Finance Team is the link between finance and the wider business, acting as trusted advisors and providing valuable insight to ensure the leadership team and the wider business understand and effectively manage the financial implications of performance. This is a 14-month fixed-term contract ideally working 2 days per week in Bristol and 3 days from home.
The Role
The purpose of the Finance Business Partner is to provide financial management reporting and analysis to drive effective commercial decision making and business planning in line with Tribal’s long term strategic objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitating weekly deal approval meetings with the sales team, reviewing and discussing bid details, verifying commercial assumptions and providing updates on the deal's commercial status.
- Lead on Commercial Product Reviews to ensure price books are commercially acceptable and review overall financial health of products.
- Collaborate with Commercial to develop new frameworks, partnership arrangements, or Tribal standard contract schedules, ensuring that financial implications and risks are thoroughly addressed.
- Provide support to Sales and Commercial during negotiations of large deals with input into bid models and pricing.
- Maintain a strong sales governance process with well-structured templates and models.
- Monitor renewals process to ensure guidelines are being followed and step in as required for complicated renewals.
- Actively monitor and report on monthly P&L performance and KPIs with insightful analysis to identify areas for challenge and improvement.
- Lead on the annual budget process, provide challenge and guidance to the Executive Team to ensure targets and assumptions are appropriate.
- Review and provide steer and challenge to the monthly forecasting process, provide informative analysis to enable the CFO, Board and Executive Team to effectively monitor performance against the annual budget.
- Design appropriate commission schemes that ensure sales teams are motivated to succeed whilst the Group receives appropriate commercial benefit, ensure calculations maintained by our offshore team are approved in line with scheme terms.
The skills you’ll need:
- A relevant accountancy qualification (ACCA / ACA / CIMA or similar).
- Effective customer negotiation skills backed up with a solid grasp of commercial principles.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with an experience of dealing with different stakeholders.
- Significant demonstrable experience in financial forecasting and modelling for pricing, deals and projects.
It would be great if you had:
- Successful track record as an experienced finance business partnering, ideally within a software business.
- Experience working within the education sector.
