Our Product Management & Product Development department operates at the intersection of innovation and scale, working across capability areas including Student Management, Data Standards, Platform Enablement, Mobile, and more. Our portfolio is diverse, containing both existing enterprise-level management systems and truly SaaS offerings tailored to specific markets. Our ambition is to be SaaS-first across our products.
You will be part of a team that is not just building features; you are shaping how universities and colleges across the UK manage their most important asset: their students. You will work in a collaborative, matrixed environment alongside talented Product Owners, Capability Product Managers, Business Analysts, UX Designers, and Technical Authors, with the autonomy to make decisions whilst benefiting from a supportive Product Operations framework that helps you succeed.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Engaging with and explaining the solution to sales teams, customers, analysts, and developers.
- Serving as the product owner, ensuring software releases are delivered predictably and with the necessary collateral, on time and within budget.
- Collaborating with development teams to prepare, prioritise, and refine the story backlog, ensuring the functional backlog is ordered and regularly reviewed to align with sprint planning and provide high quality epics to the team.
- Defining detailed use cases to drive prioritisation and enhance user experience through direct user feedback.
- Continuously identifying and proposing new ideas and product solutions, coordinating with the Development and Professional Services teams, as necessary.
- Converting the product vision, business strategy, and customer requirements into software features and product functionality.
- Clearly defining, documenting, and articulating product requirements and/or user stories.
- Building and maintaining productive and effective relationships with all product stakeholders.
- Ensuring that Product Backlogs are well-defined and managed effectively, meeting all contractual and statutory commitments and clearly communicating with all stakeholders.
The skills you will have:
- Familiarity with the development process and understanding technical constraints.
- Excellent requirement gathering skills and the ability to validate and translate those requirements into user stories for the development team.
